Overview: Responsible for strategic direction, management, and top-line revenues for the Catering & Conference Services Department. Responsible for working directly with the respective Operations Teams in creating a clear and credible vision for the department. Understands customer mix and aligns human resources, structures and systems to achieve strategic goals and maximize revenues. Ensuring delivery of exceptional events in line with Brand standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for achieving the Annual Catering Budget as assigned.
- Day to day supervision of the Catering and Conference Services function, including maintaining and monitoring the accuracy and effectiveness of all communications. These include but are not limited to Menu and Event proposals, Contracts, Banquet Event Orders, Catering Resumes, and Daily Event Reports.
- Disseminates all group and catering markets/bookings based on experience and depth of contact to benefit the Catering Department and Ownership.
- Actively prospect, handle inquiries, develop new business, and maintain a portfolio of accounts to support exceeding Catering revenue targets/goals. Finalize the requirements of personally produced bookings and ensure communication with all departments to ensure a successful event/program.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and execution of events.
- Responsible for implementation and adherence to all departmental policies and manuals, as related to the Catering Department for implementation in the field, while ensuring compliance to the same for consistency across the group.
- Develop partnerships with Key Accounts, Vendors, and Local influencers.
- Coordinate sales efforts between the hotel sales department and Hotel Operations.
- Continually assess the strengths/challenges of the Catering & Conference Services Department.
- Creates and presents promotional/enhancement and upsell strategies to the Director of Sales & Marketing to impact need/seasonal periods.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and training to the team.
- The ability to strategically direct and maintain the sales process.
- Incorporates marketing initiatives to support sales strategies and activities.
- Establishes a sense of urgency with the team to understand and achieve the needs of the Catering Event Operation.
- Knowledgeable of Hotel’s competitive set and recommends sales/pricing strategies, service and product improvements/up sell strategies to stay competitive.
- Thorough knowledge of property, space, capacities, concept/food style (menus).
- Active participation in the sales lead/revenue generating process for the department.
- Responsible for attending appropriate industry networking events.
- Drives Event Space Yield Management across the Sales division.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing, analyzing, and completing the financial forecast, pace, and monthly production reports.
- Coach, Counsel and Mentorship of Catering & Conference Services Team.
- Conducts Weekly BEO Meetings.
- Conduct Weekly Resume Meetings.
- Develops appropriate revenue/production goals for the Catering & Conference Services team with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Formulation and standardization of all Catering Sales Tools in line with the Rosewood Brand.
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage Operations team to create and maintain Banquet menus, setups, and other Catering Marketing Collateral.
- Actively participates in sales/pace/pipeline/meetings.
- Pulls and analyzes appropriate data to develop and recommend appropriate actions.
- Collaboration of Annual Budget with the support of the Director of Sales & Marketing and Food & Beverage Director.
- Conducts Review of all Direct Report Staff.
- Actively participates in and leads department recruitment and talent development to meet current and future needs.
- Enforces Diplomacy & Accountability across disciplines.
- Review costing policy with Food & Beverage Operations Team to ensure maximizing profitability.
- Ensure that accurate Delphi standards are maintained.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years as a Director of Catering/Conference Services in a Luxury environment.
- Degree in Hospitality Event Management preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food/wine and labor costing.
- Strong knowledge of sales/negotiation/closing process.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. [If applicable: This position also may be eligible for bonuses.] Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, location, and education.
