Job Title: Director, Global Payroll
Division: Finance
Location: US Remote

The Director of Global Payroll will report directly into our International Finance Director and be responsible for the strategic leadership of Sterling’s payroll operations, payroll tax submissions & compliance, payroll budgeting, vendors and pay data for our global population of 6,000+ employees. This person will manage complex global payroll functions to ensure timeliness, efficiency and accuracy of payroll processing and associated deliverables. You will be accountable to ensure compliance for all employees across the US and the eight foreign payroll locations.
This Is What You'll Do:
  • Assume accountability for the delivery of all current and future payroll processing, operations and controls across the globe
  • Develop and execute on “best in class” payroll strategy for accuracy and compliance
  • Develop and lead a team of globally dispersed payroll specialists
  • Establish and achieve department annual budget, strategies, goals and objectives
  • Design standard operating procedures through adoption of industry best practice standards that comply with federal / state regulations and collective bargaining agreements
  • Lead program implementations that focus on continuous improvement to build timely, accurate, compliant, agile payroll that provide confidence and trust for our employees
  • Oversee Payroll and Time & Attendance system enhancements, improvements and efficiencies and support improvement projects in Workday and partner closely with the People Operations team
  • Partner across the people team to ensure core compensation cycle, benefits administration, stock processing and employee tax related activities are delivered from a payroll perspective
  • Ensure compliance with all state / local laws and federal regulations and maintain up-to[1]date knowledge of changing laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all state / local laws, federal regulations and collective bargaining agreements • Maintain SOX documentation and ensure compliance
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll operations are compliant and meet business objectives
  • Maintain trusted relationships with our external payroll partners, ensuring they meet all KPIs and SLAs
This Is What We're Looking For:
  • Undergraduate degree Finance, Accounting or equivalent in a related field
  • 7 years of management experience with increasing supervisory or leadership ability in a complex, deadline-driven environment
  • 5 years of experience in working in Human Resources, Payroll and/or Accounting
  • Experience with ADP and Workday
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation from the American Payroll Association
  • Experience with vendor management • Experience managing process improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in and supporting complicated, middle to large global companies
The pay range for this position is $175,000 to $195,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive bonus plan. A full range of benefits including but not limited to medical, financial, unlimited sick time, 22 days’ vacation annually (for FT workers; prorated 1st year of employment), parental leave and other benefits are also provided.
