General Description
The purpose of this position is to promote engaged education and public service at the University of Montevallo. Opportunities include service learning, including public-service oriented internships and professional development opportunities for students; connecting academics and practitioners; dual enrollment; and convening events and forums on issues of critical public importance that bring together community and student audiences.

Essential Job Duties
1. Consult with the Provost to develop a plan to strategically engage external constituencies with the university and its academic resources.
2. Cultivate strategic partnerships with community organizations, non-profit agencies, and businesses in consultation with the appropriate campus departments and offices.
3. Collaborate with other departments on campus to provide programs and events that serve the larger community.
4. Support existing collaborative projects between the University and the City of Montevallo and cultivate additional ones, as appropriate.
5. Collaborate with the Division of Enrollment and Student Affairs for on-campus events and community engagement opportunities.
6. Serve as a liaison between the University and Shelby County and provide support for partnership activities with target agencies such as K-12 collaborations and other external organizations.
7. Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and deliver a variety of academic camps for children and youth that are open to the public. Oversee the administration of these academic camps, as needed. In evaluating prospective opportunities, both the benefit to the university and the needs of the community should be considered.
8. Collaborate with departments to develop and deliver professional development opportunities for alumni and community members (leadership development, teacher workshops, professional conferences, etc.).
9. Work with Advancement as needed to identify and secure external grants to support partnership and outreach initiatives.
10. Work with the University Web Application Specialist to improve the content and navigability of “Community” resources and information on the external website.
11. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communications to communicate news about UM partnership and outreach initiatives.
12. Represent the University on appropriate internal and external boards and committees; attend necessary meetings.
13. Support, as appropriate, opportunities with Shelby County Schools and other local educational agencies.
