Job Summary and Qualifications

LOB: Campus - PHY

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates the nutritional component of bariatric services for the organization. Provides direct patient care to adolescent, adult, geriatric, and bariatric patients.

SUPERVISOR: Director of Bariatrics

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Develops and implements plans of care based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources and correlates plan with other health care.
• Evaluates nutritional care and provides follow-up continuity of care post bariatric surgery.
• Instructs individuals and families in nutritional principles, diet, food selection, and economics while adapting teaching plans to individual lifestyle.
• Educates patients and families on dietary and lifestyle changes pre and post bariatric surgery.
• Educates patients on necessary vitamin and supplement regimens post bariatric surgery.
• Provides consultation to and works with community groups.
• Actively plans and facilitates bariatric and weight loss support group meetings.
• Conducts inpatient rounds on post-operative bariatric surgical patients.
• Conducts or participates in in-service education and consultation with professional staff and supporting personnel of own and related organizations.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Must read and understand and adhere to all HCA and Fairview Park Hospital policies and procedures.
• Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

One to two years related experience or training. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• Registered dietician, must be ADA

• License in accordance with state regulations
