Diesel Truck Mechanic
Job description
Volume transportation is currently looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to keep up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. In this role, the successful candidate will perform truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics on vehicles and work closely with other team members to meet company goals. Mechanics are responsible for the overall status of the repair and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment. Requires a good working knowledge of all tools and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair possible problems that may be experienced with diesel and gasoline engines, both electronic and non-electronic; transmissions, manual and automatic as well as electronic; vehicle suspensions; braking systems, air and mechanical as well as ABS systems. People net knowledge and alignments are a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
· Perform work as outlined in repair order with efficiency and accuracy
· Diagnose cause of malfunction and perform needed repair
· Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts or supplies
· Save and tag parts for warranty collection
· Advise Lead Mechanic or Shop Supervisor if additional work is needed, if work on repair order is not needed, or if job will take longer than expected
· Document all work performed
· Maintain all service and repair records of vehicles.
· Assures that all maintenance and repairs preformed is accomplished in a safe manner and follows OSHA guidelines.
· Assures that all equipment used for servicing and repairs conforms to OSHA standards.
· Ability to make repairs in accordance with established SOP, OEM and DOT guidelines
· Thorough understanding of electrical systems, sensors, wiring, ECU’s
· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Must be able to work with little supervision
· Must be able to prioritize work to insure business needs are met in relation to equipment availability
· Must be able to work independently, and stay focused on the job assigned
· Must possess strong trouble shooting skills to assess needed repairs
· Must be able to identify potential warranty claims (repeated similar part failure, etc.) to insure that any warranty dollars can be collected
· Must tag all parts for potential warranty collection with all pertinent information
· Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
- Five- year minimum previous mechanical experience
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must have own tools
HOURS-
Monday thru Friday or Tuesday thru Saturday- Days and hours may change as needs change.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
