Job Description:

Analyze technical information related to new products including Gas Direct Injection (GDI), Port Fuel Injection (PFI) and related Engine Management Systems (EMS) products in collaboration with customers, suppliers and Hitachi Astemo R&D headquarters in Japan. Lead project management activities for R&D in collaboration with cross functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, etc.). Define new product specifications and provide direction for development and production based on technical knowledge and collaboration between customers and Astemo R&D headquarters. Design verification based on unique customer requirements and Astemo R&D rules and tools (FEA, CFD, FMEA, FTA, etc.). Create 3D & 2D drawings for mass production, prototype, and design verification. Arrange development activities for proto-type, performance verification, creating design logic, costing contents, manufacturing constraints and quality assurance measures. Establish and implement training plans for junior engineers on Astemo Design and Development standards.

Job Requirements:

• Ten (10) years of experience in design/automotive engineering.

• Experience must also include:

• Creating 3D models and 2D drawings with CATIA for engine component parts including gasoline fuel injectors, both direct and port injection, and fuel rails;
• Developing design logic for engine component parts including gasoline fuel injectors, both direct and port injection, and fuel rails;
• Verifying design logic using CAE software including Ansys, J-Mag, and CFD VECTIS;
• Design tools including DFMEA, FTA, and QC tools;
• Leading cross-functional development projects for engine component parts from kickoff to production handoff; and
• Automotive engine systems, including air and fuel delivery component part functions and failure modes.

• Japanese language fluency.

• Up to 25% domestic and international travel.

• May work from home office with ability to report to one of the employer's Design Engineering offices in Greenfield, IN; Harrodsburg, KY; or Sunbury, OH at least 25% of time.

• Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
