The Medical Assistant will support the physician and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. Emphasis will be placed on the accurate and timely completion of tasks. This is a full-time position. Qualified candidates will be screened and assessed for experience, competency, ability to multitask, communication skills. An ideal candidate is a career medical assistant who is interested in growth and longevity within the practice.
General Medical Assistant responsibilities include:
- Assisting Physician with clinical procedures, setting up biopsy trays
- Preparing and cleaning medical instruments and exam rooms for patient encounters
- Obtaining and documenting relevant patient history and scribing for the physician
- Assisting physician with general patient care
- Cleaning and stocking exam rooms and recording inventory
- Assisting at the front desk
- Scheduling appointments; placing reminder calls
- Communicating the physician's plan to the patients
- Fielding phone calls, informing patients of their lab or pathology results
- Completing administrative tasks for health insurance verification, prior authorizations, update and file medical records and insurance reports
Job Requirements:
- Must have at least two years’ experience as a medical assistant (dermatology experience is preferred)
- Must have experience working at the front desk of a medical practice
- Must possess exceptional customer service skills
- Must have strong clinical skills
- Must have excellent organizing and planning skills with an ability to pay attention to fine detail
- Must be able to work independently and on a team
- Must have problem solving skills
- EMR experience preferred
- Experience with inventory/stocking medical supplies
- Professional demeanor
- Must have the ability to work with consistent attendance; work well in a fast-paced environment of a dermatology clinic
- Phlebotomy experience a plus
