Clear Lakes Dental provides exceptional care in preventative, restorative and other dental services in the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin. Started in 2017, we currently have two office locations – Robbinsdale & East St Paul.

We are opening two new offices - Brooklyn Park in May 2023 and Coon Rapids in July 2023. And we are starting the hiring process now!

Enthusiastic, passionate team members! We are a dental practice that treats patients of all ages. Currently, we are searching for a full time Dental Therapist who promotes general dental health, carries out routine treatment that has been prescribed by a registered dentist. These treatments could include simple fillings, applying fluoride and taking x-rays. Dental Therapist practices under the supervision of a Dentist.

These are the main responsibilities, but there will be other duties as well. All of this is completed in a team environment! CLD team members are patient and organized so that they smoothly sort out potential obstacles in a timely manner, creating a calm environment for the patients, the team and yourself!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dental therapists work as part of a team, providing clinical treatments prescribed by a dentist.


Clinical Responsibilities

A dental therapist certified by the board under may perform the following services and procedures* pursuant to the written collaborative management agreement with a Dentist:

  • An oral evaluation and assessment of dental disease and the formulation of an individualized treatment plan authorized by the collaborating dentist;
  • Nonsurgical extractions of permanent teeth as limited in subdivision 3, paragraph (b).
  • Oral health instruction and disease prevention education, including nutritional counseling and dietary analysis.
  • Preliminary charting of the oral cavity.
  • Making radiographs.
  • Mechanical polishing.
  • Application of topical preventive or prophylactic agents, including fluoride varnishes and pit and fissure sealants.
  • Pulp vitality testing.
  • Application of desensitizing medication or resin.
  • Fabrication of athletic mouth guards.
  • Placement of temporary restorations.
  • Fabrication of soft occlusal guards.
  • Tissue conditioning and soft reline.
  • Atraumatic restorative therapy.
  • Dressing changes.
  • Tooth re-implantation.
  • Administration of local anesthetic.
  • Administration of nitrous oxide.

A licensed dental therapist may perform the following services under indirect supervision:

  • Emergency palliative treatment of dental pain.
  • The placement and removal of space maintainers.
  • Cavity preparation.
  • Restoration of primary and permanent teeth.
  • Placement of temporary crowns.
  • Preparation and placement of preformed crowns.
  • Pulpotomies on primary teeth.
  • Indirect and direct pulp capping on primary and permanent teeth.
  • Stabilization of re-implanted teeth.
  • Extractions of primary teeth.
  • Suture removal.
  • Brush biopsies.
  • Repair of defective prosthetic devices.
  • Re-cementing of permanent crowns.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from an accredited University in Dental Therapy.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in a community health clinic or other clinic setting working with high risk patients.
  • Must have a current Minnesota License without any restrictions.
  • Provides direct care to high risk patients, carries out education, instruction and assists health providers with Dental procedures consistent with protocols and guidelines.
  • Ability to fulfill the requirements of travel between facilities.
  • Knowledge of dental disease processes.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence.
  • The capacity to function independently with limited supervision.
  • Possess the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively in all situations.
  • Excellent listening, oral and written English skills in communication with patients, families, health professionals and community agencies.
  • Community health knowledge and theory.
  • Culturally sensitivity with respect to working with persons and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic and social backgrounds.
  • Proficient computer skills.
