Job description
The Dean of Students is responsible for assisting the principal in leading the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring all students receive a safe, engaging and high-quality learning experience. The primary responsibility of the Dean of Students is to ensure the well-being and academic success of students. This involves overseeing various aspects of student services, such as student discipline, attendance, and health services. The Dean of Students works alongside other school staff and administrators to create and enforce policies that promote a safe and supportive learning environment for students. He/she also communicates with parents, teachers, counselors, and other professionals to address student needs and resolve conflicts. Serve as the 12th Grade Academy administrator- Supervise Senior academics, attendance, activities, and manage discipline issues
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
- Support, collaborate, and evaluate the performance of 12th grade teachers to ensure they are meeting professional standards and have the necessary resources to succeed.
Engage with families and the community to foster good relationships and build partnerships in support of student success- Monitor and evaluate student progress and academic performance, identifying students in need of additional support and resources
- Serve as the GA Milestones and ACCESS Testing Coordinator
- Supervise the Counseling Department, School Social Worker, Graduation Coach, Registrar, Achieve Atlanta Advisor
- Facilitate weekly Graduation Rate meetings
- Collaborate with counselors and district personnel on Graduation ceremony
- Serve as a liaison for P-TECH
- Collaborate with post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain a robust Dual Enrollment Program
- Serves as a liaison to Atlanta College and Career Academy (ACCA)
- Collaborate with school partners such as NextGen, Goodwill, and COR
- Collaborate with key individuals during FTE windows
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices and trends in education
- Provide leadership and support to teachers to enhance their professional development and improve instructional practices.
- Keep abreast of new materials, teaching techniques and developments in the profession by attending meetings and reading journals or other publications.
Participate in professional learning activities and plans/delivers professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students.
Support the implementation of technology in the classroom and identify new technologies to enhance instruction.
Assist in the development of school policies and procedures, including those related to discipline, safety, and instruction.
Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, including parents, local businesses, and government organizations.
Serve as local site standardized test administration coordinator
Keep the principal informed of activities, situations, and developments that effect the school operation.
Maintain a good working relationship with school and cluster-level personnel.
Establish and maintain good public relations.
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience:
Education:
- Master’s degree in education or related field required.
Certification/License:
- Valid Georgia Professional Certification at Level 5 or higher in a teaching or service field and in Educational Leadership.
Work Experience:
- 3 years of experience in an educational setting required.
- Experience working in a K-12 environment
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to make recommendations or decisions which usually affect the assigned department, but may at times affect others outside of the assigned department; ability to analyze and use independent judgment

Reports to Principal
Salary Range: $100,226 - $135,650
