As the Database Administrator, the individual will build, support, administer, and sustain a clustered-server database platform hosted in an enterprise IT environment. In this role, the Database Administrator will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions. In addition, the Database Administrator will investigate hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Architects, designs, engineers, and documents database servers and associated infrastructure in clustered, stand-alone, and/or appliance-hosted configurations, which fulfill mission requirements, service specifications, and cyber security mandates

  • Sustains fleet of physical and virtual database-hosting servers running a mix of operating systems (Open Systems and Windows Systems) in multiple network environments

  • Builds, configures, and sustains database server clusters

  • Performs daily operations, onsite support, and on-call support for all aspects of database architecture, database platforms, and database management software

  • Performs optimization and performance testing, working with both physical and virtual servers and/or appliances, and provides expert-level troubleshooting and technical support for all incidents and issues

  • Works with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outages

  • Plans, executes, and documents server specification changes

  • Supports and participates in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilities; provide expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirements,

and customize services to meet new performance goals

  • Performs other tasks as required by BME and the Government contracting office


Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Must have Security+ certification

  • Oracle or SQL Server certification

  • Must have a minimum of 3 or more years of experience with designing, building, and managing databases

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience with SharePoint site management, site content management, permissions management, and workflow design and implementation

  • Ability to translate customer requirements into database structure

  • Possession of excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience building and maintaining Content Management Platforms

  • Familiarity with using front-end scripting languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to customize solution front-end is a plus

  • Experience with creating and formulating workflows

  • Must have and maintain Secret Security clearance or higher
