Database Administrator Job Description

Responsibilities

SQL Server Installation/Configuration

⮚ Install SQL Server, Install SQL Server Named Instances, Install SQL Server

Reporting Service, Install SQL Server Additional components

⮚ Configure database instances, Configure Database initial size and growth %/MB,

Configure Database mail, Configure SQL Server Full, Differential, and

Transactional log backups.

⮚ Manually take a Full backup, Manually take Transaction log backups and

Database Restore/Recovery/Migration

⮚ Add SQL Server Service account to specific group policies to improve the

performance, Add database and files.

⮚ Ad-Hoc SQL backups.Copy-Only Database backups.

⮚ Allocate SQL Server MAX/MIN Memory.

⮚ Change SQL Server default directory structure including SQL Server Error Log, to

specific. Drives/path.

⮚ Uninstall SQL default/named instance.

⮚ Apply SQL Server Cumulative and Security updates

⮚ Roll-back SQL Server patches

⮚ Restore database Full backup, Restore database transactional log backup,

Recover database to specific time during database corruption.

⮚ Migrate databases, users, jobs, roles etc to the new server.

Address Database Failures.

⮚ Bring databases online during corruption.

⮚ Bring database online from suspect mode.

⮚ Recovery database with data loss in case of data corruption.

⮚ Create users and assign specific roles.

⮚ Audit logins failures/success.

Other DBAs Responsibilities:

⮚ Perform weekly database maintenance.Monitor SQL hosts disk space, memory,

cpu, SQL Server health and performance.

⮚ Address job failures.Address SQL Server errors reported in SQL Server and Agent

Error Logs.

⮚ Automate regular processes. Document environmental changes.

⮚ Monitoring and resolving data lock/blocking issues.

⮚ Check all statistics related to memory, locking, blocking, I/O, database response

time, wait events, top resources consumption processes.

⮚ Create indexes, new SPs, jobs etc. Create, modify, and optimize SQL Server Agent

Jobs.

⮚ Troubleshoot SQL failed jobs.Configure/modify failed jobs alerts.

⮚ Work with applications teams to troubleshoot application slowness and

performance issues.

Requirements and Skills

➢ Proven experience as a Database Administrator

➢ Previous experience with Server Operating Systems

➢ Ability to mullti-task and manage several DBA Projects

➢ Excellent Customer Service Skills

➢ Industry experience is preferred

➢ Background in Database design

➢ In-depth understanding of database management systems, online

➢ Knowledge of SQL Agent and Configuring DB Mail configuration

➢ Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude

➢ Ability to work alone as well as a Team

➢ BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
