Cylinder Maintenance Technician

- Field employees work to calibrate equipment, program and automate systems, and perform instrumentation and equipment work on client sites.
- Lab employees take samples that have been collected in the field and run a multitude of tests for environmental factors and quality of the product. We also have a blending lab that works to create the chemicals that other companies use to calibrate their analytical equipment.
- The Production Analytics team audits existing field structures and design, balances our client’s entire systems, and allocates royalties to maximize profits.

Job Summary:
Cylinder Technicians are responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of various types of sample cylinders. Technicians must be able to distinguish between different types of cylinders to perform the appropriate cleaning procedures, perform inspections to verify the integrity of the cylinder and valves, how to properly prepare the cylinders for either gas or liquid sample procurement, and perform the required QAQC checks to validate the cleaning process.
Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills are required;
- Work experience is desired. Technician level may be influenced by relevant experience;
- Electronics and/or mechanical experience/knowledge/skills is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all cylinders are properly identified and, if applicable, that the associated cases or containers are maintained with the corresponding cylinders;
- Properly dispose of samples and waste as per Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements;
- Determine appropriate cleaning procedure needed to prepare cylinders for gas and liquid sample procurement based on type of cylinder:
Floating Piston (Constant Pressure) Cylinders
Single Cavity (Constant Volume) Cylinders
Sulfur Inert / Teflon Lined Cylinders;
- Perform inspections and maintain/repair components of cylinders as necessary (valves, O-rings, pressure gauges, etc.);
- Ensure QAQC checks are performed for verification of cleaning process;
- Track stock of consumable supplies used for cleaning process;
- Perform routine maintenance for all SPL equipment used such as air compressors, compressed gases, parts, fittings, and sample cylinders;
- Maintain strict compliance with SPL/Client Safety and Ethics Policies;
- Maintain neat and accurate records;
- Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards;
- Attain a working knowledge of industry terminology;
- Learn Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in addition to methods and procedures as required for daily operations of position;
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
This position will work 8 hours, Monday – Friday in our Midland, TX laboratory. This position is subject to overtime availability.
