Peerless Technologies is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) Cybersecurity Team Primary duties will include Cybersecurity Threat Analysis, System Security Engineering and System Security Plan development. The guidance for conducting the cyber security work includes the Federal Information Security Act (FISMA) of 2002, the National Institute of Standards (NIST) SP 800-160 Vol. 1 Rev. 1, SP 800-160 Vol. 2 Rev. 1 and SP 800-53 rev 5. Essential Duties include:

• Perform NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle Assessment and Accreditation activities for all associated project System Security Plans.
• Perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain processes and procedures to identify, track and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
• Perform analysis, identify, and implement protection solutions, and prepare and maintain security related documentation, processes, and procedures.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and recommendations to peers for security control implementation and documentation.
• Perform risk assessments, determine impact, and recommend/implement remediation solutions.
• Perform Ongoing Authorization and Continuous Monitoring activities.
• Propose Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) and Risk-Based Decisions (RBD).
• Provide security assessment findings and recommendations to the Information System Owner (ISO)
• Provide system security engineering support in the analysis of systems supporting Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) projects and programs for cybersecurity gaps and issues.
• Know and adhere to Company policies, procedures and work rules and demonstrate a strong work ethic
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company and your manager.
• Create and implement FISMA security controls that will protect data, systems, and networks
• Identify and resolve network and system vulnerabilities.
• Assist in the management of System Security Planning

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 1 year of work experience in a cybersecurity role required.
• Preferred 1 – 5 years of experience with threat modeling, analysis, monitoring and/or compliance
• NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle Assessment and Accreditation activities including the development of System Security Plans
• Vulnerability management and/or compliance.
• Ability to compromise and take direction from others.
• Experience with security audits/assessments
• Demonstrate technology leadership
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VISO
• Understanding of basic Project Management Methodology
• This position prefers a bachelors, degree preferably in computer science or a related field in IT security. Candidates with bachelor’s degrees in other fields will be considered depending on relative work experience and years in the field.
• U.S. citizenship required due to being a government contractor.
• On-site work required.
