Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher
for 2023-2024 School Year
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a CTE teacher or relevant role
- Comprehensive knowledge of current pedagogical skills and teaching and management methodologies
- Experience working with children with a wide range of needs
- Valid New York State certification in FACS, Tech, Business, Health Science, Trade & Tech, Agriculture
- Preference: NYS certification in a valid CTE area such as, but not limited to FACS, Tech, Business, Health Science, Trade & Tech and/or Agriculture
Essential Duties:
Educator will be responsible for teaching groups of students with a range of needs, gifts and talents. You will develop, monitor and adjust instruction to promote the growth of our students, which includes their intellectual, emotional, social and physical well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Assess children's skills and learning requirements
- Assess students' abilities and craft teaching plans
- Adapt learning materials to meet students' needs
- Collaborate with Special Education and related service teachers in implementing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Communicate the established objectives and expectations to students, parents and classroom teachers regarding IEP goals and curriculum standards
- Collaborate with parents and school staff to track students' progress
- Inform parents about their children's performance and potential problems
- Keep track of and reflect on students' progress
- Monitor children's behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions as needed
- Manage classroom crises and resolve conflict
- Prepare students for transition to the next grade
- Collaborate with the support staff (e.g. school counselors and speech therapists) to create holistic intervention plans
- Assist the administration in implementing all District policies and/or building regulations and procedures governing student life and conduct
- Attend scheduled meetings; serve on District and building committees
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, by District policy, regulations and building procedures
- Provide for own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars and conferences
- Grade papers and homework regularly to keep students updated on how they are doing and to head off any problems before they become habit; feedback is essential
- Perform other duties as required by Building Principal and /or District Administrator

Requirements:
- NYS Certification in FACS, Tech, Business, Health Science, Trade & Tech, Agriculture
- Preference: NYS Certification in Family and Consumer Science
- Fingerprint clearance through NYSED TEACH; Drug Testing; current TB test; current Physical (less than one year old) - all completed upon being hired for employment
Terms of Employment: Ten-month year; salary to be established by the Board of Education; follows the ATA contract
Evaluation: Completed by Administration and follows ATA contract
