The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of imaging procedures, including CT and X-Rays, and fluoroscopy (if applicable) at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position will assist with designing and implementing a regional imaging strategy, procedures, equipment and policies. They will work closely with Hospital Administrators in managing their radiology teams in the operation of all of the facility's equipment, including computerized tomography scanners, X-ray machines and ultrasound imaging equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate and maintain all imaging department equipment including but not limited to X-Ray, CT, C-Arm, CR reader, and PACS
- Perform all imaging exams in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws and ensure the physician on duty is notified of the results
- Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment
- Assist Director of Radiology with the development, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of departmental programs, policies, procedures and protocols
- Ensure and maintain required documentation for compliance with general safety, radiation safety, environmental and infection control standards, and with local, state, FDA, ACR, DNV and HIPPA regulations.
- Ensure that all radiology staff are properly oriented and trained on equipment and competent in its use, and that annual competencies, certifications, licensure and education requirements are current. Plan, develop and provide continuing education and training to Rad Techs.
- Direct the maintenance of radiology equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficient, safe and effective services for patients, physicians, and staff
- Assess the accuracy of images and handles all technical troubleshooting and quality assurance issues
- Retain records of all analytic activities performed for a minimum of two years
- Perform basic clinical procedures under the direction of the physician and/or nurse on duty
- Provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to assist the physicians, nurses and other technical and administrative staff in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout the facility.
- Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats
- Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
- Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing
- Perform Quality Control as established by this laboratory
- Perform Proficiency Testing and/or Split Sample analysis periodically as established by this facility
- Perform all Quality Assessment activities assigned to this position and document these activities for periodic review by the Laboratory Supervisor and/or the Laboratory Director
- Monitor compliance with standards, identify variances or inabilities to meet established targets and implement action to ensure that targets are met
Other Job Functions:
- Perform duties as ER Technician as needed
- Attend and participates in hospital committees, as appropriate
- Travel to all facility locations as required
- Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required
- Create staff schedules for radiology technologists at assigned facility
- Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements for medical imaging and radiology safety as well as all Radiation Safety Officer Responsibilities
- Ability to work off-hours as required
- Provide input to Hospital Administrators in the hiring, scheduling and performance management of radiology staff
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to resolve problems and provide advice concerning technical procedures, techniques, and equipment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology, required
- Certified as a medical radiologic technologist and/or CT machine operator as required by the state in which practicing, required
- Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and computed tomography, required
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, required
- Associate’s Degree in radiology, preferred
- 3+ years radiologic/imaging experience, preferred
- 2+ years of CT experience, preferred
- 1+ years of emergency room experience, preferred
- Proficiency with most X-ray/CT equipment, manufacturer’s hardware/software and PACS
