Purpose of Position
This protective services case worker position will coordinate and facilitate the placement of children in CYFD custody by studying both relative and non-relative families interested in becoming foster and adoptive families.

How does it get done?
- The placement worker assesses and licenses foster homes in a manner that is consistent with Protective Services Division policies and procedures. (35%)
- The placement worker conducts ongoing case activities for maintenance and retention of licensed families that promotes family focused and child centered practice. (35%)
- The placement worker provides pre and post placement services to pre-adoptive families in accordance with Protective Services Division practice model. (20%)
- Complete FACTS documentation on providers as per policy and procedure. (10%)
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college/university and licensure by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at the LBSW, LMSW, or LISW level or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with NM requirements OR a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or Family Services from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service-related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or related experience totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
