KEY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, pre-law or a closely related social science field.
Two years of related experience. Master’s degree may substitute for the experience.
Additional relevant experience/education may substitute for the recommended experience/educational level on a year-for-year basis (excluding supervisory experience).
Knowledge of court practices and procedures that relate to domestic violence and/or family law

SUMMARY

This is a professional and highly responsible case management position within the Domestic Violence Court. Work involves the use of unified family court practices and differentiated case management with emphasis on the expedited track. The primary responsibility of an employee in this class is to facilitate injunction for protection cases in court. Court Program Specialist II respond’s to inquiries from parties and attorneys and provides case information. The Court Program Specialist II is responsible for tracking and monitoring injunction for protection cases and coordinating them under the Unified Family Court model. This position will work closely with the Judiciary, Court and community programs, Family Director, Attorneys, the Clerk of Courts, and other related agencies as well as the general public. Work is performed under general supervision of the Civil/Family Division Director and Domestic Violence Program Coordinator.

Primary responsibilities of a Court Program Specialist I include the following: (1) Case Management (2) Identify Crossover Cases under the Unified Family Court Model (3) Case Statistics (4) Other duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(1) Case Management

Facilitate injunction for protection cases in court
Process and calendar filings/prepare court orders
Prepare other orders as determined by the Judge; prepare detailed orders in accordance with Court findings for trials, pleas, and amendments
Monitor Compliance with Court Orders
Assist Petitioners, Respondents, and Attorneys respond to inquiries from all parties directly related to case
Provide litigants with information as to other resources available through the court system or elsewhere

(2) Identify Crossover Cases Under the Unified Family Court Model
Query various data bases to determine crossover cases
Contact case managers or other court personnel directly involved in the related cases when necessary
Coordinate cases to reduce conflicting court orders

(3) Case Statistics
Maintain accurate and detailed record of all pleadings processed
Prepare monthly case management reports to determine court performance

(4) Other Duties as assigned
