Position Title: Part-Time Dispatcher/Receptionist
Location: Middleborough Council on Aging
Wage: $15.72 per hour, per AFSCME union contract
Work Hours: 20 hours, 12:30-4:30 weekdays, part-time, benefitted

General Description:
Under direct supervision of the Assistant to the Executive Director, serve as Dispatcher, scheduling
transportation and supervising drivers in the performance of their duties. Duties include general reception
and information and referral duties at the front desk of the Senior Multi-Service Center.
Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Prepare daily schedules, assign drivers to their tasks, maintain continuous radio contact with
drivers.

2. Collect, count and record receipts from the lunch, transportation, and special programs.
3. Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly statistics on mileage, number of passengers served, etc.

Maintain daily data input of transportation of clients in our database.
4. Coordinate COA response to situations that may occur in daily operation of the Transportation

Program, e.g.; mechanical breakdowns, road delays, flat tires, etc.
5. Answer incoming calls promptly, greets and assists visitors with courtesy and professionalism.
6. Provide general information and referral assistance to visitors and callers concerning COA

services and other available elderly service programs in the community.
7. Take reservations for COA activities, programs and services.
8. Observe highest possible level of confidentiality for all individuals served by the COA.
9. Perform other related office duties as assigned by the Assistant to the Executive Director and the

Executive Director.
Education:
High school graduation and a minimum of three (3) years of responsible experience (preferably including
work as a transportation dispatcher or driver) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Critical Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills:
1. Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task.
2. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, including ability to input data.
3. Detailed knowledge of Middleboro roads and surrounding communities.
4. Ability to relate well to elderly persons and volunteers.
5. Ability to work well under pressure in a position that involves continuous contact with elderly people

and the general public and a good sense of humor. Pursuant to Federal Regulations 51.55 (e) (k) (6),
