The standardized annual salary for this position is $47,644 dependent upon funds available and OSHR approval.
Reporting directly to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position will provide supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium Custody State Corrections Facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.
Accounting for persons and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
Rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.
This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
DAC is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry.

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer
Or
Two years of experience as Correctional Officer II

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
