The Corporate Paralegal is responsible for the management of all legal matters, onboarding and offboarding of properties, client communications and correspondences, sensitive financial support, and overseeing the Risk and Compliance Department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Legal Matters:
    • Obtains, reviews and analyzes legal claims and demands in a timely manner
    • Creates outlines of plans to correct, settle, or dispute legal claims and demands
    • Conducts investigations and interviews to respond to legal claims and demands and consolidates all applicable documentation with organization.
    • Partners with outside counsel when appropriate and responds timely
    • Prepares routine written updates and summaries of legal claims and their statuses to the senior management team and the Client
    • Maintain internal sites and case management databases to track the status of all pending and in process litigation matters.
    • Serve as a liaison between internal business partners, legal department, lenders, and external vendors as necessary for contract drafting, negotiations, processes, and inquiries
    • Conduct routine legal research, including review of regulatory documents, case law, along with federal, state, and other local governing authorities.
  • Community & Client:
    • Maintain template agreements, proofread documents, and edit and draft contracts and amendments.
    • Draft, assess, and update initial versions of various agreements timely and accurately
    • Coordinate and/or draft and file contracts. Manage the document signature process using DocuSign
    • Prepares, updates, and manages working group lists, deadlines, data rooms, and checklists related to onboarding and offboarding of properties.
    • Performing legal due diligence on acquisition goals and advising senior management, owners, lenders, vendors, etc. on updates, risks, and closing matters.
    • Serve as a liaison between internal business partners, legal department, lenders, and external vendors as necessary for contract drafting, negotiations, processes, and inquiries
  • Finance Support:
    • Assist with updating financial statements on highly sensitive accounts
    • Partner with lenders on providing requested documents as needed
    • Work with senior management on creating business plans and developing Pro Formas
    • File management of legal matters, financial statements, and all other risk and compliance filings
    • Review invoices for accuracy and seek approvals to process management as necessary
    • Track all Loan, Covenants, and Loa Terms including pay-off dates
  • Risk & Compliance Support:
    • Ensuring that the Risk & Compliance department is updating OSHA Logs and Safety Committees
    • Provide oversight and support to insurance and license applications and renewals
    • Review of all open claims with the Risk & Compliance departments and ensure tracking is up to date and accurate
  • Assist with scheduling meetings along with copying, scanning, filing documents
  • Will regularly be entrusted with sensitive information. Must treat information provided in the strictest confidence.
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor or company Senior Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Paralegal role is required. Demonstrated finance experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or another related preferred.
  • Experience working as an in-house paralegal is preferred.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% of the time.
  • Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills, with emphasis on customer service, written and verbal. Requires a clear, concise, and logical communication style with a solution-forward approach
  • Must be able to handle multiple demands, work well under pressure, and have the flexibility to assist the team in meeting client demands on accelerated schedules
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities along with attention to detail.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Proficient using online systems, software, and programs. Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.), Zoom, Adobe Pro, DocuSign, HRIS, etc.
  • Clerical/Administrative requirements include analysis of data, working at a computer, reading, writing, and processing paperwork.
  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Requires self-motivation.
