This contract position is at a skilled nursing facility and requires 8-10 hours per month onsite. You can coordinate with the facility to choose a day each month that works best for your schedule.

Qualifications:

• Currently registered dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and currently licensed dietitian through South Dakota.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists in the coordination between the facility, the director of food and nutrition services, director of nursing, and administrator for excellent customer service and problem-solving.
• Assists facility to achieve success during all applicable surveys as needed.
• Monitors the services provided by the food and nutrition services department for provision of efficient and economic service to patients.
• Implements documentation in the form of nutrition assessments, progress notes, care plans, and MNT interventions.
• Follows HIPAA regulations for resident privacy.
• Assists in providing inservice programs for the facility as needed/requested.
• Provides diet/nutrition education materials for patients and is able to deliver diet/nutrition education/counseling directly to the patient/resident.
• Review and approve menus to make sure they meet or exceed the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) set forth by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
• Review and approve written policies and procedures that govern all dietetic activities annually and revise as necessary.
• Able to perform other duties as assigned and /or requested.
