We are seeking a knowledgeable, team-oriented Plan Consultant for our Retirement Plan Consulting Defined Benefit Team who has experience with the administration, valuation and compliance of traditional defined benefit and cash balance plans. Filling this critical role is an integral part of Sentinel’s Retirement Plan Services growth plan. This successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and communication skills with a growth mindset.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Performing and/or reviewing actuarial valuations of qualified defined benefit retirement plans in accordance with IRS rules and regulations
  • Performing annual IRS compliance testing, including aggregated plan testing with defined contribution plans
  • Preparation of AFTAP certifications
  • Preparation of Schedule SB attachment to Form 5500 and assistance with preparation and filing of Form 5500
  • Preparation of PBGC premium filings and submission of filings
  • Answering a wide variety of client questions related to plan administration and participant inquiries
  • Collaborating both internally and externally to facilitate the responsible handling of plan assets
  • Developing/maintaining strong client relationships across many different industries with varying levels of financial experience
  • Calculate and process benefits calculations and projected benefits estimates
  • Assisting clients and prospects with plan design and redesign, including but not limited to aligning their DB plan (and DC plans) with objectives

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other business-related field.
  • Attained Enrolled Actuary Credential
  • 5+ years of Enrolled Actuary experience.
  • Experience with Relius Administration is preferred but will not disqualify candidates.
  • ASPPA credential is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret retirement plan documents as well as IRS rules and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas and overall ability to learn and use different software packages.
