Delivery Driver

Deep South Metals is currently seeking a new Delivery Driver to grow with us!

The position consists of loading, securing loads, unloading, and moving roofing materials in the warehouse, yard, or out on a local area jobsite. It is required that you are experienced with hauling trailers. Typically, you will load jobs and deliver to the jobsite, return to headquarters and repeat for most of the workday. Our headquarters are in East Palatka so you will be home every day, this is not a long haul delivery driving position. Deep South Metals conducts pre-employment and periodic background checks as well as drug testing. Work hours are Monday-Friday 7-4+. OVERTIME IS AUTHORIZED.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in manually loading & securing orders on outgoing trucks / trailers
• Driving while maintaining all applicable traffic laws.
• Maintaining a clean & accident free driving record.
• Assist customers in loading vehicles while at our headquarters location.
• Count, verify & unload incoming / outgoing orders and shipments.
• Maintain inventory in appropriate / designated storage areas in the warehouse.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment & periodic background checks / drug testing / driving history checks
• Must be a self-starter, dependable and a team player.
• Must be flexible to stay later than the typical work day if the work schedule dictates.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively maintain a professional appearance in situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Typically you will be moving metal roofing panels on/off trailers at a jobsite and materials around the warehouse.
• Must be able to drive with a trailer attached to pick-up truck.
• Must be able to back a trailer.
