Overview

Our Slurry Road Work Construction Labor staff are critical in getting our asphalt jobs done. We re seeking reliable team members looking to get their foot in the door in a growing company. These positions are full-time, seasonal positions with 9+ months of consistent work per year. Overtime can and will be required during peak season (April – November). This position is responsible for labor intensive activities that require physical strength, training and is an integral part of our asphalt operations, reporting directly to our crew leaders. We are seeking a candidate to join our team and mission to deliver quality on every project, backed by our commitment to safety, service and reliability. Training can and will be provided to those that are interested in operating seal machinery, mops and squeegees. Attention to detail and safety are critical to the success of this role and the entirety of our team.

  • This job opening does require overnight travel during the week. Highly likely to be working out of the Lynchburg area (from motel rooms) as much as 7 months per year.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drive a pilot vehicle in the work zone for rotation and break purposes.
  • Maintain work area in orderly and hazard-free condition in construction area according to instructions by Superintendent.
  • Shovel and rake materials and clean equipment.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of traffic control devices.
  • Operate various hand tools, pavement breakers, jack hammers, etc.
  • Perform any daily maintenance and lubrication procedures as outlined by the company or according to manufacturer's specification.
  • Follow all safety procedures (OSHA, company, and plant).
  • Check guards, safety devices and warning signs to determine they are in proper position and in good working order.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and corporate policies.

Skills & Experience

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be familiar with the duties of other craft workers and with the materials, tools, and machinery they use, as all these workers perform as part of a team, jointly carrying out assigned construction tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient English language required.
  • Ability to use various handheld tools and be able to respond quickly to safety demands and equipment malfunctions.

Compensation Range:
