Job Description:

UES, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Materials Scientist/Engineer to work with our research team at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, exploring the processing and performance of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). Primary research responsibilities will be to model/generate ceramic composite architectures to predict performance and compare to lab-scale composite behavior. Prior experience with stress analysis software, such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc. is required, and experience with CAD software and MATLAB/other coding languages is preferred. This position is part of an on-site research contract in the Ceramics Branch of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Requirements:

• PhD or Masters degree (within 3 months) in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or, related field
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Experience with modeling of structural materials is preferred
• Experience in ceramic or relevant materials is preferred
• Good interpersonal skills/ability to work with a diverse group
• Adaptable to varying program objectives
• This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills
• This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
