Job Duties

Virginia Taxation is taking steps to modernize and innovate! The Office of Collections is seeking Compliance Risk Analysts.

Core Responsibilities:
Collect and analyze varied taxpayer data to identify potential fraudulent activities
Perform evaluations of risk assessments based on mathematical sampling and review methods in the development and execution of risk and control activities in accordance with internal procedures, relevant government tax statutes, and tax regulations.
Provide monitoring and executional support of ongoing quality assurance programs, including Outside Collection Agency (i.e., posting transactions, electronic messages, phone calls, etc.) and system testing
Establish strong relationships and maintain robust collaboration with all levels of Compliance leaders
Create and deliver risk management presentations, communications, and reports, particularly regarding the effectiveness of operational risk control and recommendations to mitigate risk/loss
Tasked with not only executing established risk programs, but further establishing a portfolio of key risk indicators
Serves as technical report analyst to run standard SQL risk queries
Sampling, reviewing, and performing data analysis on taxpayers financial transactions processed by collection employees to ensure adherence

These positions are eligible for a hybrid telework schedule.

The anticipated hiring salary for these positions are commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong analytical and risk management skills

Proven accounting principle knowledge, skills, and experience to ensure the proper manual and system treatment of financial transactions to mitigate internal fraud risk, including offset sources

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously using strong time management, prioritization, and project management skills

Experience in risk-based analysis and reporting

Strong proficiency in Microsoft office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer science or business administration

Internal Audit Professional Certification

Tax knowledge rules and regulations
