SUMMARY

Provide direct management and ongoing support and oversight of all onsite service process. Responsible for ensuring all Youth and Family Worker (Residential Aides) assist guests ensuring their basic needs are met, while treating all guests with dignity and respect. Responsible for the coordination of Residential aides and the case management team as needed, for families throughout their stay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Shelter Supervisors will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure that provisions of mandated services to residents are met daily.
  • Prepare work schedules and delegate assignments to support staff.
  • Train support staff to properly conduct their assignments.
  • Coordinate with the case management team as needed.
  • Meet regularly with staff to discuss assignments and keeping them informed of current and updated policies and procedures.
  • Review reports and recommend procedural / process improvement changes as required to improve upon the delivery of services.
  • Supervise time and leave, as well as approved routine overtime.
  • Work closely with site security personnel
  • Routinely tour the facility noting irregularities and supervising all corrective measures initiated to abate identified problems.
  • Create and coordinate the schedules of the operations staff to ensure there is 24-hour/7 days a week coverage at the facility.
  • Determine the trainings needed for the operations staff.
  • Appropriately enforce House Rules.
  • Oversee and track bed management procedure for the facility.
  • Coordinate completion of family’s intakes and discharges.
  • Assist custodial and security staff with the maintenance and security of the facility.
  • Oversee room check and hourly rounds.
  • Oversee the food distribution process including receiving food deliveries.
  • Implement all programmatic needs as necessary and outlined by the Site and Social Services Directors.
  • Performs other relative job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience.
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity managing a team.
  • 2 years of strong organizational & leadership skills
  • Must have demonstrated experience working with diverse migrant groups or the homeless population.
  • Fluently speak and write English/Spanish preferred.

  • Spanish/English bilingual fluency preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational and leadership skills and ability to manage a team.

  • Must be organized as well as, have excellent verbal, communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families.

  • Possess sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Ability to successfully pass a a drug screen and a federal background check including the following: NYC Staff exclusion list (SEL), Child abuse and neglect, and Division of Criminal Justice Services.
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled environment.

*Salary: $24.04 hourly.*
