The Communications Manager helps lead the mission of Sojourn Church J-Town by overseeing the strategy and implementation of church-wide communication and supporting our ministry staff as they seek to communicate within their areas.
Character & Competencies
- Fulfills the character qualifications of a Deacon and Sojourn Employee Handbook.
- Detailed organizer and content creator
- Strong communicator and storyteller (written)
- Ability to perform tactical execution of a strategy
- Proven ability in written communications and website organization
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.
- Proficiency in Social Media platforms (specifically Instagram and Facebook)
- Experience with project management
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Works well within a team and with others
- Healthy multi-tasker and problem solver

Responsibilities
Content Management
- Oversee Communication Strategy and Calendar
- Oversee Communication Request Process
- Liaise with all ministry departments to support their communication needs. Gather and edit event information, announcements, and updates.
- Create and publish church-wide emails
- Coordinate with staff on content updates for the website
- Gather, edit, and format content for print pieces such as brochures, flyers, posters, the annual report, handbooks, and more.
- Coordinate with the Worship Team on sermon audio and video.
- Coordinate with Design Vendors and Staff on projects
- Collaborate with web developer and designer to update the website
- Work with staff to anticipate needs and create a peaceable timeline for all print projects.
- Work with staff and design vendors all the way through deliverables.
- Prepare rough design concepts or sketches to help both staff and designers visualize the final product.
- Maintain positive relationships with designers and help identify new design resources as needed.
- Anticipate temporary signage needs for events; create and place signage.
- Collaborate with the Executive Pastor and others on the creation and modification of new and existing signage.
- Learn, follow, and champion Sojourn J-Town Brand and best practices.
Social Media
- Create and manage a weekly social media content calendar. Source and prepare content and post to Sojourn J-Town’s platforms
- Monitor J-Town’s channels to create an aware, responsive presence and foster positive interaction with followers. Monitor and maintain J-Town’s presence on Google Business, YouTube, Vimeo, and other platforms.
Expectations
- Adhere to the Sojourn Staff Handbook.
- Support, champion, and fulfill the mission, goals, and ministry philosophy of Sojourn J-Town.
- Participate in all staff meetings and regular functions.
- Support, partner, and align with other ministry areas to further our mission.
- 29 hours per week
