- Hard surface repair (concrete, asphalt).
- Turf maintenance, tree & shrub maintenance, planting of flowers for district facilities.
- In-ground sprinkler installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Preventative maintenance/operation on all ground’s maintenance equipment.
- Athletic field maintenance.
- Perform sub building engineer duties.
- Prepare facilities for special events, including Homecoming, Graduation, concerts, and others. Aide in traffic control during such events.
- Perform snow and ice removal services with trucks, snow blowers and hand equipment throughout the district on a 24 hour on-call basis.
- Assist with repairs of playground facilities, fencing and miscellaneous structures.
- Assist in construction duties on new and existing district facilities.
- Perform sub building engineer duties.
- Operate light – medium sized equipment in multiple areas of maintenance and construction functions.
- Responsible for documentation as requested by the Grounds Supervisor.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor or designee.
- Work in conjunction with building Lead Engineers.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Grounds Worker performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of school district grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping. The Grounds Worker also performs maintenance and repair on groundskeeping equipment, tools, and in-ground sprinklers. Help in providing a safe, pleasant, and enjoyable outdoor/indoor experience for students and the general public to learn, play and conduct athletic activities. Perform general grounds maintenance and building engineer duties, as season demands.

Basic math, writing, communication, and reading skills.
License / Certification Required
Valid Colorado Driver’s License
Work Experience Required
General outdoor maintenance experience preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Basic knowledge of planting and maintaining shrubbery, sprinkler systems and repair.
Asphalt, Concrete, fencing repair and installation knowledge preferred.
Must work independently and cooperatively with other employees, students, and the community.

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; work with explosives; vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is moderate in volume. The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Movement: The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying
Physical: Requires general arm, hand, leg, and body coordination to use standard large kitchen equipment. A working environment requires physical ability to stand for extended periods of time. Frequently lift, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally life, pull, or push objects up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties.
