What You Will Do
As a Clinical Informaticist, you are responsible for planning, reviewing, and contributing to all activities and functions of clinical transformation by using Information Technology to continually assess and improve the way patient care is delivered and providing managerial, technical, and motivational leadership. This role will collaborate with the CMIO to drive clinical transformation through careful analysis of current processes and workflows and change management strategies that align with the Center’s strategic plan and Center goals.
The Opportunity
- Participate in the development of an overall strategy for clinical transformation.
- Plan, organize, and assist in clinical and patient experience implementations.
- Work closely with IT operations on planning for technology needs as it relates to implementations.
- Identify opportunities for optimization of clinical processes leading to increased efficiencies and reduced unnecessary variation.
- Actively seek input from physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, design and implement solutions, and communicate the findings to the clinical staff, CMIO, and CIO.
- Work to increase utility, promote adoption, and create sustainability of clinical and patient experience tools through multi-disciplinary teams.
- Participate in the design and development of clinical quality reports and dashboards.
- Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders across the Center, promoting the value of clinical informatics and the credibility and value of the Information Services Department to care delivery operations.
- Support requests for project, service requests, and problem tickets through the help desk ticketing system.
- Assist with defining project metrics of success for technology deployments.
- Assist in the provision of high-quality technology and change management services.
- Actively participate with implementation team(s) during implementation of new features or functions or enhancements to existing functions which affect clinical employees.
- Assume shared responsibility for the success of assigned projects.
- Demonstrate successful use of clinical Informatics and Information Services Department procedures when working on project teams, including use of planned agendas, project plans and minutes of regularly scheduled meetings.
- Maintain/develop other administrative and communication skills such as conducting meetings, writing, and speaking clearly in a businesslike manner.
- Responsible for translating process and workflow decision into education materials, leveraging change management and adult learning principles.
- Work closely with the IS teams, Project Managers, and health IT vendor partners to coordinate strategic changes determined by the clinical leadership, executives, and IS leadership.
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Center policies, procedures, and standards.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support Center and Departmental goals which contribute to the success of the Center.
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Occasional travel for company meetings, conferences, and training may be required.
Requirements
- Clinical degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent degree OR Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Clinical or Healthcare Informatics required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in direct patient care setting using clinical systems required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with analyzing clinical and patient workflows required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in change management, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement methods and tools, data analysis methods and tools, decision support methods and tools, and electronic health records required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with implementing electronic health records systems required.
- Knowledge of information technology, Microsoft 365 tools, including experience in workflow documentation (preferably Visio) required.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual and in a team with all levels of the organization required.
- Experience using Athenahealth’s AthenaOne preferred.
- Participation in one or more professional organizations (AMIA, HIMSS, CHIME) preferred.
