We are currently seeking a full time Lead Clinical Assistant to join our team!
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the physician with patient care, including taking vitals, obtaining history and chief complaints, and assisting with biopsies and selected surgery procedures. Other responsibilities include patient education regarding treatment plans and medications, completing chart documentation in a timely manner, assisting with cosmetic procedures and performing selected laser procedures and phototherapy treatments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, suppliers, referral sources, regulatory bodies, the general community and others pertinent to the business; demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and service excellence.
- Work daily and effectively to balance stress of multiple projects, conflicting priorities, substantial workload, environmental ambiguity and changing plans through self-management and productive communication with the Management team regarding needs for support.
- Escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining vitals, and presenting chief complaints
- Assisting physician with biopsies and surgical procedures
- Performing procedures such as dressing changes, allergen patch testing, labs, cultures, injections, and processing prescriptions
- Educating patients as required after physician establishes the treatment plan and medications
- Accurately completing all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents
- Charting information in electronic health records
- Answering and triaging all phone calls and messages. Calling or faxing pharmacies with newly authorized prescription refills. Notifying patients of pathology/laboratory results and schedule necessary follow up appointments or procedures.
- Processing in house labs, preparing specimens for pick-up, administering injections and training patients on self-injection of medications, processing incoming pathology/laboratory/culture reports, and cleaning and sterilizing instruments
- Stocking and cleaning exam rooms and nursing station
- Preparing monthly Department meetings
- Assisting in creating department schedule and approving Time off requests
- Assisting in hiring, training, review process, and disciplinary actions of nursing staff
- Updating and maintaining policies, procedures, and education materials as needed
- Primary contact for pharmaceutical reps regarding medication updates
- Responding to physician’s request as needed
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
- Perform other duties as requested or required by management.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of anatomy of skin and dermatologic medications and conditions
- Demonstrated skill and proficiency with Windows-based computer applications (specifically Word, Power Point, Outlook and Excel Software) and other industry-related software and office equipment.
- Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically, orally and in writing in the English language; also to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships while participating in sectional and cross-functional groups and teams involving management, staff and clients.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on work activities with time constraints and interruptions to meet deadlines as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of direction and/or supervision.
- Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, maintain a sense of humor and to regularly present a well-groomed, professional image.
- Ability to exhibit desirable and appropriate behavior including integrity, industriousness, sense of urgency and confidentiality and independent judgment to provide for a cohesive working environment dedicated to achieving the organization’s goals.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Certified from accredited program, either Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years experience in a medical office setting, preferably Dermatology
- Preferably 2+ years in a supervisory position
