Choir Director

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part time – weekly Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday leadership (approximately 10-12 hours/week Sept-May and 10-12 hours/month Jun-Aug)

Benefits – 2 Sundays off with pay (includes the weekly rehearsal most closely connected to Sunday off). Additional days off with pay, on a rotating basis with the Worship Leader and Organist/Pianist, include, but not limited to youth service Sundays, the first Sunday immediately after Easter and the first Sunday immediately after Christmas.

JOB GOALS: Having selected appropriate music, lead the Chancel Choir in a manner that compliments and supports the worship life of the congregation of The Church at Litchfield Park.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in music or demonstrated ability and experience.- Demonstrated ability to work well with people and groups. Ability to recruit and retain choir members. A strong and unwavering commitment to the mission of The Church at Litchfield Park.

DUTIES:

• Select music for chancel choir performances 3-4 Sundays/month) and special services where the chancel choir will be performing (one Sunday off per month when Bell Choirs perform)
• Conduct weekly rehearsals for Chancel Choir on Wednesday evenings and other relevant rehearsals for special performances
• Direct Summer Singers 1x/month in June, July, and August. Select and direct special music as necessary for summer Sunday services (attendance of services unless directing or accompanying is not required). Summer Singers rehearse at 7:30am the morning they perform.
• Participate one other Sunday Jun-Aug as soloist/instrumentalist.
• Organize and maintain the music library
• Plan and direct a yearly Christmas Cantata (usually 1 or 2 Sundays before Christmas Eve—8am & 915am services – includes an additional Saturday rehearsal)
• Plan and direct special music including instrumentalists for the 6am sunrise, 8am & 915am Easter Sunday services
• Work with Organist and Worship Leader to provide coverage for one another when taking time off
• Participate, as available, in weddings, memorial services or other “unplanned” services upon request of the officiating pastor—additional compensation included
• All other duties/responsibilities requested/negotiated with the Senior Pastor may be compensated

RATE OF COMPENSATION: $15,000-17,000 Annually

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Senior Pastor

WORKS COOPERATIVELY WITH: Pastors, Staff & Volunteers

EVALUATION: Prepared annually by the Senior Pastor
