The Garden Assistant is responsible for supporting routine cleaning and preventative maintenance duties for the Chef Garden and Hospitality division. This includes maintaining the appearance of the chef garden, working areas, and the hotel premises in general in a clean and orderly manner. Demonstrates a professional, friendly, warm and welcoming demeanor to all guests and employees.

They are also crucial to supporting ongoing projects, and other necessary and scheduled duties. They will manage tasks, track progress and report status on the various assignments. They include works across, chef garden, and private or public events as time allows. The garden assistant will assist with routine or semi-skilled maintenance, landscaping & logistics activities, as needed and directed by the Manager.

• Maintains garden appearance, including pruning, drip irrigation
• Assists in daily harvesting needs, as well as seasonal fruit harvesting (non-wine grape related).
• Removes trash from garden and property as needed
• Moves furniture and related items as needed
• Walks garden at beginning, throughout the day and end of day to check for weeds, litter, tripping hazards, and other items as assigned by management.
• Assists with maintaining public areas and items, such as Concierge Patio furnishings, Hammock courtyard, tasting room patio, and maintaining exterior fans or filling heater propane tanks, etc.
• Maintains the Chef Garden, including planting routinely/seasonally as needed
• Follows all company policies and works in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintains service log, and status reports for repair requests or ongoing projects
• Helps maintain proper storage areas, and improve functionality
• Submits work orders for maintenance team on behalf of hospitality as needed.
• Assist in set up, tear down and provide support during select events if needed.
• Assist with projects, including improvements to public area setup or new hospitality services or spaces.
• Arranges furniture and equipment as needed

• Fruit tree pruning and harvesting practices a plus
• Advanced sanitary training, and knowledge or cleaning practices – including to the level of food handling specifications
• Must have some basic understanding of facility maintenance / gardening
• Must be self-motived and have Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
• Positive attitude / willingness to “go with the flow”
• Ability to work both independently and on teams
• Possession of excellent communication skills
• Possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Strong work ethic
• Attention to details and good problem-solving skill
• Reliable vehicle
• Must possess a valid license with an acceptable driving record
• Food Handlers Card, such as Serve Safe Certification, or be willing to obtain upon employment if necessary
• COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
