Job description
The University of Virginia's Captial Construction & Renovations (CC&R) team is seeking a new Project Manager. CC&R Project Managers perform day to day design and construction phase management on projects for the University. They facilitate the efforts of architects, engineers, contractors, and Financial Authorities. CC&R Project Managers promote completion of non-capital and capital projects by developing, monitoring, and managing project requirements. CC&R Project Mangers work autonomously on routine management and correspondence concerning projects from inception through project close out; however, they report to and receive guidance from CC&R Team Leaders.
We are looking for candidates with diverse perspectives and project management experience who are eager to learn and wish to join a team with growth opportunities. The successful candidates will have a passion for constructing buildings for patients, faculty, staff, and students as well as the ability to manage projects from start to finish. Applicants with interior design and furniture selection knowledge/skills are highly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to speak with a variety of constituent levels is a must.
Facilities Management supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for managing the University’s Capital Construction and Renovations Program, the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of the University’s buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as, other University owned and leased properties.
Duties Include:
Determine construction pro gress and resolve construction problems with project manager, architect, and contractor.
Receive project assignments and reviews with the project committee and customers their goals and objectives for the project.
Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related field. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
Four years experience in project or construction management. Without Bachelor's degree, must have eight years of relevant experience.
Selected candidates will be required to pass a background check and health screening.
Skills and Abilities:
Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to use computers and associated applications for time tracking and documentation of work.
Ability to work well in a diverse and team-oriented environment.
Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
Detail-oriented with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, or specifications.
Ability to perform interior design and furniture review/selection
Compensation:
Anticipated Minimum Hiring Range is $80,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits . Employee benefits package highlights include:
