The CADD Manager is responsible for the maintenance of electronic (AutoCAD) floor plans in Northwestern University’s Space Information Management System, Facilities Connect (Tririga). Reporting to the Assistant Director of Space Information this position is responsible for Northwestern’s AutoCAD records and ensures that all drawings and systems are maintained. This position will generate relevant space reports and serves as the central point of contact regarding electronic drawings. This position must have a solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with space planning and facilities/building design. Expertise in CAD/CAFM and the methodologies and calculations used to generate and analyze allocation models critical.

Please note: Ability to move heavy objects (up to 60 lbs.), such as drawings, models, mail, supplies, files, etc. While position is largely office based, candidate should be prepared to do necessary field-work to inform/ support assigned projects and/or supervision of those in the field.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Updates and maintains AutoCAD master drawings and inventory providing support to CAD and space management.
    • Oversees the collection of existing construction drawings and ensure
    • Keep accurate records to indicate square footage by room, department and building.
    • Maintains space allocation and gross area records for reporting purposes.
    • Establishes an organized file system for As-Built Drawings.
    • Generates graphic and tabular reports and analysis on space and occupancy.
    • Ensures accuracy and linkage to the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system, Tririga.
    • Conducts data audits to identify inconsistencies and errors.
    • Provides drafting support to Facilities colleagues.
  • Assists Space Information Assistant Manager and maintains building level information in Tririga.
  • Uses comprehensive understanding of relevant system functions and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all proposed system or process changes.
  • Maintains plotters and scanning equipment retrieving/scanning/copying/printing drawings from the University’s Construction Drawing Archive.
  • Maintains a current and comprehensive understanding of Northwestern University systems related to space management, AutoCAD documentation, maintenance management, equipment management and the interface with University databases.
  • Manages collection and coordination of graphic information such as the annual campus aerial photography and digitizing, campus parking space counts and related information, historic districting and campus parcel revisions.
  • Oversees CAD software license within Planning.
  • Special projects or assignments as needed by Facilities and the University.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in facilities data information management in a major institutional or corporate setting. Experience in a university setting is preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is required.

  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to work cooperatively in an environment where multiple assignments and priorities are common.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing space information in a large university setting or corporate environment preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Tririga;
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, ESRI GIS Products, and Adobe Creative Suite.
