The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is seeking applicants with extensive payroll experience and general business operations knowledge. The Business Services Specialist will provide services and transactional support to the CAHSS Dean's Office, as well as other departments within CAHSS.
UMBC offers competitive compensation. This role starts at $44,843 and has 11 days of vacation as well as winter break, spring break, and personal days for regular full time roles. Tuition remission is also available.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Payroll processing
- Position management
Additional duties may include:
- Procurement
- PageUp
- Travel and expense reimbursements
- Journal entries
- Review of current processes and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and six years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Excellent organizational, time management, communication (verbal and written), analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of USM policies and procedures
- Ability to prioritize workflow
- Experience with PeopleSoft Human Resources System, PeopleSoft Finance
- Ability to take initiative and contribute to overall process improvements
