Purdue University is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Business Manager for the College of Engineering primarily supporting Engineering administration. As the Business Manager, you will direct the management of the finances and business office support for Engineering Administration with annual operating expenditures exceeding $18 million dollars. This position will provide key leadership and coordination for the College of Engineering’s annual budgeting process and annual budget plan analysis through quarterly reviews and financial projections. This position will play a key role in the preparation of financial and management reports to support long-range planning forecasts; budget recommendations, planning, and analysis; and financial analysis and strategic financial management of college resources. Coordinate the tracking, updating, and reconciling of the College of Engineering’s general fund budget including fringe benefits. Manage multiple internal and external reporting needs for the College of Engineering. Manage and execute the transfer of College of Engineering financial commitments. You will also serve as the resource/liaison for the Department to the College and central offices. Provide proper interpretation of University, Federal, State, and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. Collaborate closely with central business service operations and other related entities in meeting the strategic goals of the University. Serve as a mentor and key resource person to peers within Business Office. Maintain a unit that provides excellent business management support to Department Heads, Directors, faculty, staff, and students.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Finance, or a related field of study
- Two (2) years of business administration, financial management, or related experience
- Ability to analyze, interpret, implement, and communicate University policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, financial analysis, supervisory, and customer service skills
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes accountability, respect, and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, etc.
- Demonstrate originality, creativity, and ability to resolve complex issues daily
Preferred:
- Six credit hours of accounting coursework
- A demonstrated knowledge of sponsor and University regulations and basic proficiency in all technical and professional skills related to the business office and contract grant management
- Knowledge of SAP, Cognos, and Banner
