Position Summary

As a BI Analyst, you will be responsible for building and maintaining dashboard, automated reporting and self-service solutions that will scale as HEM continues to grow. You will be the expert who can design dashboards, provide ad-hoc support and help educate stakeholders on analytics best practices. You will be the go-to person for internal customers if they have any questions or issues with reports/dashboards. You will be responsible for data analytics and additional support of performance measures, data collection, reporting, data visualizations and information dissemination. Work will be both independent and collaborative in nature. You will engage in data exploration exercises with a variety of complex business intelligence tools, requiring knowledge of relational database structures.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the conduit between HEM’s global business users and the Technology teams.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Design and develop complex analytical reporting models, reports & KPIs based on gathered requirements using HEM’s BI tools - Business Objects Webi, MS Power BI and Oracle Cloud Analytics.
  • Use advanced ability to problem-solve creatively and analyze processes and systems.
  • Demonstrate analytical ability required to gather data, perform transformation, perform complex analysis, solve both business and technical problems.
  • Diagnose reporting issues in real-time and provide guidance with metrics and visualizations.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements. Deliver functional requirement documents and obtain end-user sign-off.
  • Ensure smooth transition of the users from the current to the new BI tools at HEM.
  • Understand business objectives, collect business requirements and translate them into data requirements.
  • Design and develop reports or dashboards (using code and visualization tools).
  • Schedule and deploy business intelligence components in accordance with supplied standards and best practices and completing accurate and timely documentation.
  • Work seamlessly with the BI Manager, BI Analyst and BI Technical Architects to recommend solutions for process improvements within existing environment.
  • Collaborate with business and IT departments to understand system data and its use, participate in data analysis and validation, and provide support around the data and how it is integrated.
  • Mentor and assist business users to develop a deep understanding of the data, its use, and the structure of reports and dashboards.
  • Work and communicate effectively with a variety of business users and levels to review and discuss their reporting needs.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science. Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a business analyst, using SQL, creating reports and visualization using Business Objects, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI or a similar BI tool.
  • Direct knowledge and background in Oracle EBS or other ERP data models (particularly Sales, Finance, order to cash and procure to pay areas).
  • Ability to utilize expertise in Oracle EBS or other ERP processes and data models to understand user requirements, identify the tables involved, document and communicate those requirements to the development team.
  • Ability to assist and support business users in various areas to research and investigate data issues in the reports against the general ledger or subledgers.
  • Knowledge of core business processes (Manufacturing, Cost Accounting, Logistics, Order management and/or Procurement) obtained by directly working in one of these functions is preferred.
  • Familiar with business intelligence concepts, ability to collaborate with end users to define metrics and business requirements.
  • Proficiency and fluency in financial data
  • Intermediate SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling and ETL processes and tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote positive working relationships.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple demands in a rapidly changing, team-based environment.
  • Experience in the training of end-users in new and/or modified system environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization – from senior management to programmers and clerical staff.
