The Opportunity

This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of our following office locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Tampa, FL. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

Provides complex analytical, business, and technical support related to strategic business functions, process, and applications/IT platforms. Leads and participates in efforts supporting business analysis and decision-making processes including creating, implementing, and maintaining application solutions to meet the needs of a business or organization. Proposes changes to business processes to better align to business need.

The Data & Analytic Enablement team within the Product & Pricing Analytics organization is seeking a Business Applications Analyst Senior to serve on the Pricing Modernization team working primarily with the Earnix Price-It tool which will house the rating rules for USAA going forward. In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Bring SDLC principles to the team and implement processes across the team to support sustainable coding practices within the Earnix Price-It environment. Guide, advise, and provide oversight to development within the tool. Identify and implement scalable processes for development within Earnix that simplify and expedite expansion to new product lines.

  • Find innovative ways to leverage Earnix functionality to support Pricing capability automation. This includes writing Python code within Earnix to automate processes and reduce manual dependencies that exist in today’s environment.

  • Apply experience and expertise in software development to find efficiencies in existing Python scripts within the platform and to extend Earnix functionality.

  • Quickly get up to speed on the Earnix tool and its inherent capabilities. Work with business partners and developers to understand business needs and pain points to drive out future vision for the tool.

What you’ll do:

  • Advises and provides analytical support and recommendations to stakeholders making decisions related to business and application/IT platform direction and modifications, taking into account current and future business needs and opportunities.

  • Maintains advanced understanding of business processes, applications/IT platform and strategic direction and advises customers on and facilitates the identification, research, and analysis of application/IT platform and technology solutions.

  • Collaborates and exchanges information with team members, stakeholders, and information services to ensure dependencies, risks, and opportunities are identified and addressed.

  • Research complex business issues requiring advanced knowledge of business principles and theories.

  • Responsible for analyzing and participates in documenting business requirements for application/IT platform and data systems and directing the testing and implementation of new systems or changes to current system as required to meet contractual needs and improve processes.

  • Leads and participates in the design and administration of standards and policies regarding application/IT platform and end user customer documentation.

  • Provides input and participates in establishing system documentation standards and quality assurance methodologies for systems and applications/IT platform.

  • Provides work direction and coaching to team members and may provide input on performance and development plans.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 6 years of work experience in analyzing IT business processes, software application/IT platform design and/or IT documentation, with an understanding of application/IT platform data systems and operations processes.

  • Demonstrated understanding of application/IT platform administration and the software development life cycle, to include testing execution.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation related to workflow and business requirements, as well as technical functionality of IT applications/IT platform.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Knowledge of risk & controls with experience identifying and fixing gaps, documenting controls and testing of those controls.

  • Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required.

What sets you apart:

  • Degree in Computer Science and/or related Application Development experience.

  • Strong programming skills (Python, R, VBA).

  • Experience implementing within the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).

  • Proven leadership skills involving oversight of others work.

  • P&C Insurance experience.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $86,520 - $155,710.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
