This position, located in North Carolina, requires travel to several different schools within Granville County (NC), Vance County (NC), Warren County (NC), Franklin County (NC), and other counties listed below as needed. Therapists may choose to live outside these counties with the understanding that a commute is required.

Voices Together® is an innovative and rapidly growing non-profit organization across North Carolina. We currently serve clients in twenty-one counties within school districts and the community, with more expansion on the horizon. Voices Together® uses our specialized and evidenced-based VOICSS® model to increase communication and social/emotional learning in individuals with diverse abilities. Our proprietary method is evidence-based and considered a best practice, supported through a strong research partnership with Duke University. Voices Together is expanding in the field of Pre-Employment Transition Services through our work with the NC DHHS Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate enjoys and is skilled in group session work, has a good knowledge of basic counseling and therapeutic methods, is energetic, collaborative, and works well with a team. Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing weekly specialized individual and group music therapy sessions for individuals with diverse abilities
  • Building and maintaining strong therapeutic relationships with clients, families, and teachers
  • Developing therapeutic goals through assessment and evaluation
  • Maintaining documentation that accurately reflects client outcomes through completed professional reports
  • Submitting client documentation in a timely matter according to organization policies
  • Working on programming development opportunities within the organization
  • Participating in team and staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and Voices Together events

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in music therapy required
  • Board certification or ability to obtain board certification within 30 days of hire date
  • The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience working with clients ages 14-21 who are neurodivergent.
  • Experience building strong therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Knowledge of the assessment process and progress notes
  • A demonstrated commitment to meeting high clinical standards in a professional setting, including but not limited to: leading groups, recruiting clients, songwriting, developing curriculum, showing initiative/innovation, and exhibiting leadership skills/problem-solving skills in communicating with the team and CEO.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in basic counseling/verbal processing skills
  • Promotes a positive and energetic group environment
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
  • Experience working in a group therapeutic setting preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse abilities preferred
  • Songwriting ability preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of musical equipment (wagon/cart provided)
  • Counties within the Triangle region include but are not limited to Granville (NC), Vance (NC), Warren (NC), Franklin (NC), Wake (NC), Orange (NC), Chatham (NC), Durham (NC), and Alamance (NC).
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations, including counties outside the Triangle region. Counties include, but are not limited to, Wayne County (NC), Person County (NC), and Johnston County (NC).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Protocols are in place for clients as well employees. All employees are required to provide proof of vaccination and booster. Personal protection equipment is provided, including but not limited to masks, sanitizers, and gloves.
