Behavior Intervention Specialist or BCBA


AnthroMed Education is a top provider of Related Services to local schools in Illinois. Our services focus on providing the highest quality of care for students in schools and supporting them to reach their highest level of learning and personal development.

We are currently seeking two, dedicated and hard-working Behavior Intervention Specialists (BCBA) for one of our school partners in Villa Park, IL. The BCBA’s joining will be supporting district-wide. Each BCBA will represent half of the district and provide additional support to the School Social Workers and Psychologists already working in this District. The school is looking for BCBAs who are flexible and willing to help wherever it is needed, as there may be times when the BCBA will stay in one building for a week or two, depending on the needs of the students.


This is a brand-new program within the district and is a perfect opportunity for a BCBA to come in and make a lasting impact, along with growing further in their career, skillset, and knowledge.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide research-validated, professional development to staff regarding classroom management theories and positive behavior intervention strategies that promote positive student behavior in the classroom and overall school environment.
  • Observe students in their educational environment, analyze existing data and conduct preference assessments to increase student success.
  • Collaborate with building problem-solving teams to develop behavior rating scales, systematic recording procedures, data-driven decision-making, and functional behavior assessment routines that identify student behavior and lead to effective interventions.
  • Consult and collaborate with school teams regarding students with significant behavioral problems to develop effective behavior intervention plans.
  • Assist teams in developing and writing these plans as well as effective Individual Education Plans and 504s when appropriate. Participate in IEP/504 meetings as needed.
  • Share expertise with staff through modeling, presenting at workshops, and managing crises.
  • Keep abreast of evidence-based methodologies used with students with behavioral challenges.
  • Provide training to staff regarding behavior strategies, data collection, FBA/BIPs, and teaching behaviors.
  • Train teachers and teacher assistants to implement behavior interventions with students referred for behavioral services.
  • Supervise a small team of teacher assistants who will be trained to support students with behavioral challenges as needed.
  • Actively participate on district teams or committees as assigned.
  • Other duties/responsibilities are to follow.


Certification:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst, required
  • LBSII (Behavior Intervention Specialist) endorsement, preferred with PEL
  • LBSI or School Social Worker or School Psychologist, desirable with PEL
