Overview
The City of Tigard’s Community Development Department is seeking an Associate Transportation Planner (may underfill as an Assistant Planner) who will support implementation of Tigard’s Strategic Plan by ensuring transportation projects and programs advance the City’s vision as Tigard grows.
The City of Tigard recently adopted the 2040 Transportation System Plan (TSP) which guides transportation policies and investments over a twenty-year time horizon. The Associate Transportation Planner will play a key role in supporting implementation of the 2040 TSP.
As the Associate Transportation Planner, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support and lead on a range of projects and programs including but not limited to vehicle electrification, curbside management, shared e-micromobility, long range planning, area studies, parking policy, and capital project prioritization and planning. The Associate Transportation Planner will support regional transportation coordination as well as support compliance activities associated with new statewide transportation planning rules.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, community development, business or public administration, or a related field; AND
- Three (3) years of responsible public agency planning experience.
Assistant Planner Qualifications:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, community development, business or public administration, or a related field; AND
- One (1) year of responsible public agency planning experience.
Supplemental Information
Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work schedule includes a combination of office and off-site meetings (some evenings) There is an opportunity for remote work up to 50% of the time.

Compensation:
Associate Transportation Planner: The hourly range for this overtime eligible position is $32.70-$42.75 per hour. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate’s related experience and education in accordance with the City’s pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $39.56 per hour.
Assistant Planner: The hourly range for this overtime eligible position is $28.20-$36.87 per hour. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate’s related experience and education in accordance with the City’s pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $33.18 per hour.

Covid-19 Vaccination Requirement: The City of Tigard has a COVID-19 vaccination mandate that has been suspended. The suspension will be reviewed quarterly beginning December 31, 2022, or as conditions warrant. If reinstated, the vaccination mandate would require most City employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If hired, and if the mandate is reinstated, you would be required to submit proof of vaccination.
