The Department of Accounting, Business, Economics, and Finance at Westminster College is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in accounting, to serve jointly as Chair of the Department. This position requires the rank of Associate Professor, with a start date of August 15, 2023. We are seeking a broadly trained and educated individual who has demonstrated passion for leadership and teaching in a primarily residential, undergraduate, liberal arts institution.
As Chair of the Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating both full-time and part-time faculty; overseeing all curricular matters of the Department; preparing and overseeing annual budgets; overseeing annual assessment reports, periodic program reviews, and ACBSP accreditation; and attending to other duties assigned to department chairs.
At the same time, the successful candidate will be teaching various undergraduate courses in accounting, such as Principles of Financial Accounting, Federal Income Tax (Tax I), Corporate Tax (Tax II), Governmental Not-for-profit Accounting, Audit, and other accounting classes as needed. In addition, the faculty member will participate in academic advising.
Applicants having an earned Doctorate (or ABD) or Master’s degree with industry experience will be considered.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as Chair of the Accounting, Business, Economics, and Finance Department, with all the regular duties of department chairs
- Teach a wide variety of upper- and lower-level courses in accounting;
- Work with students as academic advisor;
- Participate in faculty governance and committee service
- Maintain regular office hours
- Maintain an agenda for scholarly, professional, and/or creative activity
- Participate in enrollment activities by meeting with prospective students, preparing recruitment materials, and other activities as requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Earned Doctorate (or ABD) or Masters degree in accounting. Or an earned Doctorate (or ABD) or Master’s degree in a related field with a CPA; years of industry experience and prior college-level teaching will also be considered.
