Job Title: Associate Director of Prospect Research & Management

Reporting Relationship: Executive Director of Advancement Operations

Unit: Central Administration

Campus Location: John Wesley Administration Building

Summary of Position: The Associate Director of Prospect Research and Management reports to the Executive Director of Advancement Operations and is an integral member of the Advancement team. They will help Indiana Wesleyan University to identify philanthropic partners. They will oversee the management of research ensuring prospects are moved through the engagement cycle. The position with assist with implementing strategies to maintain portfolios, and to keep a dynamic prospect pipeline moving forward.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make certain information on stakeholders is up-to-date, accurate, and properly documented
  • Proactively identify philanthropic partners through research on individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Organize and evaluate a prospect's willingness to philanthropically partner with IWU
  • Synthesize research into reports to inform donor engagement events
  • Track follow-up activities to move prospects through the engagement cycle
  • Stay informed of alumni in the news, philanthropic trends, and current economic events
  • Create and produce management metrics reports
  • Participate in training through Apra and CASE seminars and workshops for prospect research and management
  • Occasional participation in evening and/or weekend activities is required
  • Other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals and objectives

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required or will consider professional experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of the position

Experience

  • Preferred: experience in prospect research, library research or other information related fields

Required Skills

  • High level of discretion
  • Versed in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and planning abilities
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
