POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Stagehand (ASH) is a one-year position that is an integral part of our Resident Crew, and will work alongside the I.A.T.S.E. stagehands from load-in to strike on Milwaukee Rep productions. The ASH will have hands on learning in the assembly of both static and automated scenery and will learn how to efficiently run the backstage scenery and props. Additional education opportunities in scenery construction and hands on experience in other technical areas may be available based on interest.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Work with I.A.T.S.E stagehands to load-in Milwaukee Rep productions and events
• Assist stagehands with the preset and running of scenery and props
• Assist resident crew with creating and maintaining a safe stage and work areas
• Other duties as assigned which may include follow spot operation for select productions

SCHEDULE

Hours are based around the performance schedule which includes evenings, weekends and some afternoons. The schedule expands to daytime hours during changeovers and technical rehearsals. This is a single season position running August 14, 2023 to May 19, 2024.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Technical Knowledge and Experience:

• Some experience working in a professional technical theater environment
• Desire to build a foundation for a career in the industry
• This is an educational position and does not assume an extensive depth of experience; a desire to learn, the ability to self-start, multitask, troubleshoot, and adapt quickly are most important

COVID Policy
