SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Food and Beverage is responsible for all aspects of the quality of the catering and conference group experience, departmental financial performance, revenue generation through up selling groups, departmental moral, driving and modeling the Lansdowne culture and core values. Effective i nteraction and contribution to Leadership Group goals and initiatives is required. The Assistant Director of Food and Beverage is responsible for the preservation improvements to our physical property and equipment. Requires a detail oriented, organized and flexible individual. Must be able to multi-task, problem solve, be flexible and adaptable to differing situations. Due to the intensity of interaction, excellent inter-personal skills are a must. Individual will train and motivate staff to exceed goals. The Assistant Director of Food and Beverage shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times; and will be responsible for exemplifying the Lansdowne Resort Culture as well as promoting Lansdowne Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • Maintains a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction
  • Leads and supervises the Resort Food and Beverage Outlets
  • Prepares forecasts and reports and assists in the development of the food & beverage budget
  • Responsible for overall performance of the Resort Outlets
  • Takes initiative to develop and execute new events, etc.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings to include ongoing training and safety classes
  • Supervises the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of team
  • Manages timely completion of performance appraisals
  • Develops and implements controls for expense management
  • Implements strategies to continually improve revenues
  • Ensures a positive and proactive working relationship with the Group Sales Team
  • Assists with the development, training and inspiration of staff for promotion
  • Provides prompt follow-up to all guest concerns
  • Assists the Director of Food & Beverage with the design and implementation of training programs
  • Empowers team to exceed service standards
  • Instills a calm, organized approach in all stressful situations
  • Works with HR to recruit and hire staff
  • Completes all proper new hire and termination paperwork
  • Maintains a safe and pleasant work environment
  • Promotes high associate morale
  • Recommends discipline and/or termination when appropriate of team members
  • Takes a proactive approach to coaching and counseling
  • Attends appropriate resort, division and department meetings
  • Resolves guest issues promptly and with great care and effectiveness
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of hospitality trends, especially food & beverage
  • Provides general resort information for guests
  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events
  • Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
  • Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
  • Communicates all pertinent information to the Outlet teams
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.
  • Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Lansdowne Resort dress code standards
  • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all time

Associate is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent work experience required
  • Two or four year degree in field of choice preferred
  • At least three years supervisory food and beverage experience required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet company driving standards
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have excellent leadership skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages 3 – 4 managers in the outlets. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience

and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to respond effectively to all business communications.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
