General Description

The Assembly Operator is responsible for assembling wheel, tire, and runflat for final fitment to a vehicle.

Specific Duties

• Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
• Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.
• Use the instructions in the Production Manual to correctly assemble the product.

• Determine by part number the right wheel, tire, and runflat for a particular assembly as specified on the Engineering drawing.

• Apply lubricant to the inner crown of the tire.

• Visually inspect tire, wheel, and runflat for defects.

• Operate insertion press to insert runflat into the tire.

• Manually insert wheel inner into the tire and runflat.

• Operate multi-spindle nut runner to torque all wheel nuts properly.

• Inflate tire assembly to proper pressure as specified on assembly drawing.

• Operate the balancing machine to balance tire assembly correctly.

• Visually inspect completed assembly air pressure loss, correct nut torque, defects, etc.

• Package finished tire assembly as per the work order.

• Follow instructions from the Shift Leader and Quality Control personnel.

• Remove all garbage at the end of the shift and keep work area clean and orderly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a production environment preferred.
• Ability to move and work with heavy tires.
• Must be able to work in a non-air conditioned environment for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.
