AMETEK, Inc. has an opening for an Annealing Base Process Operator at their Lancaster, PA plant for 3rd shift (11pm-7am). With an exceptional benefit package including tuition reimbursement, this position starts at competitive wages and increases to $32.55/hour, plus a $1/hour shift differential.
Job Description:
- Operate annealing and batch heat treat furnaces to anneal and heat treat foil and strip in atmosphere-controlled furnaces.
- Follow operating and procedure instructions to load and unload material, adjust speed, temperature and atmosphere as noted on process travelers.
- Examine finished product to assure that it meets established standards, observe product for potential damage from scratches, distortion, buckling, stretch, discoloration and raw material defects.
- Submit samples of work, along with Process Control Log Sheet for each furnace to Metallurgical Laboratory Technician for inspection in accordance with the Process Control Manual.
- Roll metals to specified thickness, resistance, hardness and width using cold rolling equipment. Assure that the material meets the requirements by using micrometer, hardness tester and resistance bridge as needed to assure proper setup of mill.
- Deburr strip and condition edges using any of the deburring and edge conditioning machines in accordance with quality requirements of the customer's specification. Adjust, resharpen and/or replace cutters as is necessary to assure good quality deburring action.
- Process metals in various other types of equipment to perform operations such as strip grinding, flattening, shearing, etc.
- Pickle coils of metal in a heated acid bath with water rinses to remove oxide from the surface. Exercise care in order not to pickle the thickness under tolerance or otherwise damage the material.
