Qualifications:

  • At least one of the following qualifications is required:
    • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major
    • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ clerical experience
  • Knowledge of current computing technology, use of MS Office Suite software, and capacity to learn and use HR-based software applications
  • Ability to communicate, effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to meet and deal professionally and courteously with the public
  • Ability to interact, professionally and courteously, with (diverse) internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in human resources and benefits management/administration
  • Knowledge of and the ability to read and interpret federal and state regulations relative to human resources and benefits
  • SHRM-CP or PHR


  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.


Performance Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes District Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and other applications to perform personnel functions.
  • Maintains accurate position control information to assist in the hiring/rehiring process for all employees including changes,additions, and deletions.
  • Reviews and verifies the advertising of district positions to ensure consistency with union contracts and position control.
  • Completes Personnel Action Forms with the appropriate pay index, salary, days, hours and appropriate funding source.
  • Supports the initial hiring/rehiring process for all employees by providing accurate position control information, verification, and data entry.
  • Assists with the verification process of previous employment in accordance with contract and Board policies.
  • Serves as Human Resources' liaison with schools and departments as needed.
  • Attends workshops and training pertaining to human resources as needed.
  • Assists in planning, implementing, and managing software programs for human resources.
  • Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department as needed including answering telephones, greeting visitors,operating the digital fingerprinting computer, etc.
  • Prepares and distributes certification and recertification information as required.
  • Counsels and advises employees/applicants regarding Florida certification.
  • Serves as a liaison between the District and the Department of Education.
  • Monitors lists of out-of-field and temporarily-certified teachers for communication with the School Board, school administrators, and teachers.
  • Provides training in applicable software and procedures to HR and district staff.
  • Assists with state reporting maintenance issues, including certification as needed.
  • Oversees the preparation of personnel items for agenda for board approval.
  • Ensures the accurate application of the salary schedule to all employees.
  • Performs other job-related functions as assigned.
