Summer Camp & After School Associate
Position Overview
Dwight School, an innovative preschool-grade 12 coeducational school and summer camp on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic Summer Camp and After School Associate for the 2022-2023 academic school year and Summer 2023.
After-School Program Responsibilities
- Establish a combination of program activities to provide academic support, skill-driven sports, fitness and wellness activities, and visual and performing arts instruction.
- Manage daily operations and logistics of the after-school programs.
- Monitor attendance, staff hours, and secure central delivery of program fees.
- Develop & instill strong, positive program culture among staff, students, families, and larger school community.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, and adhere to all regulations, when responding to incidents and accidents that may occur at assigned programs.
- Create alignment and communication between the school day and after-school staff.
- Ensure staff and students are meeting cultural expectations of Dwight.
- Communicate with families.
- Ensure implementation of high-quality programs that are responsive to students and families.
- Support school-wide culture procedures, initiatives, and extra-curricular programming.
- Establish community service opportunities for youth to enhance community awareness.
Summer Camp Responsibilities - Hours for summer camp 7 am-5:00 pm (8 weeks)
- Manage enrollment of campers through an online database
- Manage employee applications
- Update the public website
- Speak to parents via phone/email with questions
- Create and manage camp schedule
- Create balanced camp groups based on requests
- Provide transportation to and from trips
- Liaise with Health Department regarding camp safety
- Create and manage an attendance system
- Monitor the administrative team
- Work closely with teachers on parent communication including weekly emails regarding activities
- Assist Camp Director as needed
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of summer camp and after-school experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, etc. and Google for Business
